Research Topic:
Development of molecular labeling probes (contains halogen rich scaffold) for multi-modal and targeted molecular imaging using correlative NanoSIMS, ToF-SIMS, fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy with applications in cell biology. The goal was to achieve high-resolution spatial and chemical characterization at the cellular and subcellular levels, with applications in cell biology for understanding complex biological processes and molecular interactions.
Previous work/positions:
One of the highlights of my research career was my involvement in a project focused on the design and synthesis of chalcogen-based small molecular probes targeting intracellular RNA. Here I have synthesized the molecular probes, performed some invitro photophysical studies with it (solvatochromic test, calculation of molar extinction co-efficient, calculation of quantum yield, calculation of detection limit, effect of pH & temperature, effect of ionic strength, circular dichroism test, determination of lifetime, etc.), theoretical studies to check electronic distribution within the probes (simulated HOMO and LUMO) and binding affinity & type of binding (groove binder or intercalator) with nucleic acid and finally, treatment of the probe in different cell line for confocal microscopy imaging. After completing my Ph.D., I worked for one year as a Project Scientist-I at the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, India, contributing to various industrial project.
