Research
My project focuses on quantifying the modulatory effects of autophagy on oligodendrocyte differentiation and how autophagy affects the differentiation of oligodendrocytes with Schinzel-Giedion syndrome (SGS).

Autophagy is a cellular process that degrades unnecessary and dysfunctional cytoplasmic components via the lysosome pathway. It plays crucial roles in maintaining cellular homeostasis, providing cellular energy, and participating in various biological processes including cell differentiation. SGS is a rare genetic disorder characterized by delayed myelination and frequent seizures, which is associated with a loss of OL function.

Exploring the effects of autophagy on OLs affected by SGS and directly targeting the SETBP1 with ASO may provide new treatment solutions for the disease. The main analytical technique I am using is confocal microscopy.
